H+H manufactures Celcon Blocks and is the UK’s largest aircrete manufacturer.
We have been operating in the UK since 1949 and have three plants which supply our aircrete blocks to builders’ merchants and construction sites up and down the country. Our Borough Green factory in Kent is the most modern and efficient aircrete factory in Europe.
H+H is a Europe-wide group with its headquarters in Denmark and manufacturing facilities across Europe, so we benefit from the expertise, product innovation and experiences of the wider group.
Creating a sustainable aircrete product
We are committed to reducing our environmental impact and have a long history of developing more resource-efficient approaches to the manufacture of aircrete in the UK. We continue to work to reduce the embodied carbon of our products and to achieving net-zero emissions from our operations and products by 2050.
Aircrete is a durable and resilient building material designed to provide a long service life. Its manufacture makes efficient use of raw materials and has historically incorporated pulverised fuel ash (PFA), a secondary material produced by coal-fired power generation. As the availability of PFA changes, we continue to develop our manufacturing processes and investigate alternative materials that can help reduce the environmental impact of our products.
The benefits of aircrete also extend to the performance of buildings in use. Celcon Blocks combine thermal performance with durability and help contribute to the energy efficiency of the building fabric. By helping to reduce heat loss through the external walls, aircrete can form part of an energy-efficient approach to housebuilding.
H+H has been involved in the development of energy-efficient house designs for decades, helping designers and housebuilders meet increasingly demanding performance requirements, including those set by Building Regulations and the Future Homes Standard, along with other standards such as Passivhaus.
H+H aircrete blocks provide a durable, thermally efficient building material that can contribute to high-performing homes designed for long service lives and lower energy demand.
